Do you believe that religion is the root of all evil?

A wry reference to Richard Dawkins I know. But is Religion always evil. Can it not be helpful to people?

  Our egotistic universe does not appreciate being compared to puny, made-up human gods. Religion is a danger to our universe's ego and shall bring about the end of the world!
